And The Nova Scotian Juno Nominees 2012 Are..

The Juno nominations are out and here is how our province’s musical talent made out this year...

JRDN: The Halifax native and St FX basketball playing Artist came up big this year with two nominations for Best New Artist of the Year & R&B/Soul Recording of the Year

Jimmy Rankin: He really needs no introduction. He’s up for Country Album of the Year for his album Forget About the World.

Jenn Grant: Technically not “originally” a Nova Scotian but she been here long enough that we claim her for our own... yeah, that’s right! What you gonna do about it PEI? We love her and her voice. Amazing! She ups for Adult Alternative Album of the Year. WE LOVE THIS VIDEO!!

Classified: Juno website has him up for Rap Recording of the Year for Handshakes and Middle Fingers. Love the tittle and I also love "Stay Cool” from the album.

Sloan: This is the band that just keeps going and going. This is their 10th album!!! They are up for Rock Album of the Year for The Double Cross

And last be not least

Dave Gunning: The Pictou County native has recently been creating buzz in the larger Folk world but he’s been winning awards on the East Coast scene for years. His recent CD “A Tribute to John Allan Cameron” received a Juno nomination for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year.

Congrats to all Nova Scotia’s artist who were nominated! We’re so proud of you! Happy you’re going to represent our provinces music scene.

The Links on their names open to their twitter accounts if you want to follow our artist.

Oh and one final thing! Hopefully next year The Stanfields will be nominated for...everything cuz we love them here on the blog. Their new album is due out this summer and you can pre-order the CD on the website now!
